I don't much care what GM does especially when it comes to gas engines.

They put in the work to become profitable via ultra efficient vertical integration and a host of other reasons. Legacy auto has their ICE business as a ball and chain to drag around.
This year Model Y will be the best selling car of any kind, or if not close to it.

Keeping V8s, investing almost a TRILLION bucks into V8s which many, many Americans still want and what's tried and true wasn't a bad decision. USA is not all Southern California where it's 75 and clear 345 days a year. Not all trucks are EVs to piddle to construction sites.

Tesla went in 8 years from a company that almost ran out of money to THE most successful automobile company. That is what I call a record and amazing. We can argue a lot of stuff about them, we could say they make ugly cars etc etc but any argument that they are not the most successful automotive company just falls flat. Just pull their sales data and financials and the story goes the other way

I'm not saying that's a bad decision. Only the market and time will determine if it is or not. All I'm saying is GM is not known to have made good decisions. Ask Toyota who ate their lunch in the 80's and 90's and almost bankrupted them in the mid 2000's

Well, numbers don't lie my friend. From sales data compiled from all automobile manufacturers, Model Y followed by Model 3 are the highest selling vehicles. Tesla can't make enough of them to satisfy orders. You can believe it or not, that's up to you

Keeping displacement, rather than turbos, as what really powers trucks that are supposed to last 20 years while doing truck duties was a wise idea. There are no turbos to keep cool and lubricated. Just the large pistons doing their thing. I would never want any FI pickup, just a good ole NA V8.

V8 will still probably go in Vette and maybe Camaro.

I can yes. 1UZ-FE is the sweetest V8 ever made IMO but compared to an electric drivetrain it loses in every possible way except nostalgia.

I get the feeling some don't realize that Model Y was the 4th best selling vehicle in 2022. If Tesla is able to ramp production of Cybertruck like the Model Y it will become the best selling truck.

Again, I'm not saying that a bad thing GM investing in the small block V8. The market is going to have it's say. Again just repeating, GM is way behind other automakers, including Ford and Toyota. But Tesla is more valuable than all three combined, and they don't make a single engine

It's the best selling car in California, which is the biggest auto market in North America. It beat out the Camry and Accord. It also just beat out the Camry in Australia. Except California isn't the entire USA contrary to what some think. I lived there, I remember. The most populated parts of California have absolutely PERFECT 100% ideal weather for EVs. And the movement is very, VERY strong out there.

I know we are just yutzes in flyover country but there are MILLIONS and MILLIONS of us.
