Tesla had a ton of publicity and Elon is a magnet for attention. Tesla was 1st with this revolutionary technology not just as EV but also with the interior driver interface.

Lucid has none of this. Plus this perfect storm of war, increased gas prices, all types of shortages etc makes production costs skyrocket. Not good for a company that has poor liquidity already.
The point is, they made it at a time everyone was laughing at EV's, everything against them. Not everyone thinking or moving towards EV's wants a Tesla, and Lucid offers the best luxury, performance and range EV alternative. Lucid's problems stem from not being able to produce cars fast enough, some of it you can blame on the circumstances. If Lucid could produce 100,000 cars a year, they would all be sold by the time they came out of the factory. Demand is there, the people with money are there, production numbers aren't

Trying to scale is what almost killed Tesla. What made it worse is they went for too much automation, AND decided to make an SUV with the most complicated doors ever put in a vehicle. Maybe Lucid should have taken this as guidance and went for a more simple car to start with. Lucid has all the tech Tesla has, although some of it doesn't work at all like FSD.

I 100 percent agree. The problem is not demand, it's that they cannot produce to meet that demand. They definitely should have gone simpler, but remember, times were different when they announced the Lucid Air line

i get you don't like the eqs and no i wouldn't spend $125K on a car i hate looking at. besides, you lease so you never spend $125K on anything, but point made.

If I were buying a car for forever then I would be worried about all of that from Lucid, but I lease and its gone in 3 years. If the Lucid experiment was awful, I would just ditch it. Cars are not a permanent thing in my garage. Infotainment, supposedly they now have Carplay, which is all I need. I never even use a car's native infotainment.
i just think getting into an owned or leased lucid is a huge risk. but just like early tesla owners, someone has to go first.

I guarantee they are offering leasing, through a third party.

i still can't fathom there's almost $100K difference between the (unavailable) cheapest version to the top 'dream' version:

77,400 air pure
95,000+ air touring
139,000+ air grand touring
169,000 air dream edition

There's over a $100k difference between the cheapest version of the S Class and the top version. Thats not that uncommon with high end cars. Range Rovers are the same way, Porsches...some BMWs...

That lineup is something marketing dreamed up (get it) probably will never see half of those.
