I wouldn't go that far, they are decent starter cars that last forever. My first Toyota was a 1995 Corolla LE with a 5 speed Manual...maybe that's why yours didn't drive well, Corollas have horrible automatic transmissions. Anyway, my Corolla was passed down and finally put to rest in 2016 when my nephew traded it in for a Prius plugin. Had over 200K and was still running strong. Body was not doing well though

I haven't test driven the new ones but the one we had was a rental due to a small fender bender on my wifes car and they gave us a Corolla for a week. Hated it and couldn't wait to get out of it. The Mazda 3 we have drove much much better. Its obvious the people that blast the Model 3 haven't even driven it.

The Corolla GR looks like it's probably a blast, AWD 300 HP with a 6 speed MT. I would just have to get past the idea of owning a car with a 1.6L three cylinder

Thats a different beast. That thing looks like it would be a fun little hatchback. I hope it sells out so it encourages Toyota to bring more fun stuff.

I could see it in my yard as a weekend car, but I would have to hide it and sneak out with it because my neighbors would think I was having a crisis. I hope it sells good as well

All EVs that use Lithium Ion will last at most 15-20years then the battery will go into failure. If battery prices come down a lot, i wouldn't be surprised if people just replaced the battery for $5k and get another 10-15 years of life on the car. For most luxury buyers, I bet they replace their cars before any of this is a concern.

To get back on topic, the Tesla mobile connector that came with the car is better than most of the other manufacturers. It has the ability to do 110V or 240V and is pretty rugged with many adapters (can do dryer plugs, electric ranges, etc...). The Ioniq 5 one that comes with the car is junk. Only does 110V so only capable of 5 miles per hour of charge.

Not really. Like I said, put a 4 cylinder in the 3 and it's a direct competitor. That's why I said glorified. Just a 4 door sedan econobox with electric drivetrain, except the Corolla is probably better built.

So if I put a 4 cylinder in my IS350 that also makes it a glorified Corolla and direct competitor? Oh, you really, really lost me there....

NO. Because the IS is a rwd/awd car whereas at the Corolla is a FWD car. (I am still astonished as per the comparison l am lost just like you)

Also turns out that the increased cable length of the Wall Charger allows me to get another EV and not have to move my car. Bonus
I have the portable cable plugged into a NEMA 14-50 on a hanger. 28 to 30 MPH. There is no need for a Wall Charger. The real benefit comes from Solar Planels!
