Wow basically a year wait? I wonder if you ordered the performance model how quickly you would get it. It seems like the higher performance models have shorter waits but who knows now.

Another option you might want to consider is the Polestar 3, since your Model Y Performance delivery is so far away.
The Polestar 3 will officially be unveiled in October and on sale later this year, early next.
It will be the size of a Volvo XC90, but without the third row.
There will be many more options to consider.

model y performance is about 2-3 months out, the long range is about a year, similar to model X.
also the model y long range might be using the newer battery cells. Reportedly more efficient and much better than the current ones. But seems like Tesla is using a smaller battery so range and performance is the same.

As for iDrive, I personally feel it’s the best out there and very easy to use once you figure it out. I can change things much faster compared to a touch screen without fat fingering anything.
Getting OT, but the "plebian" Teslas aka model 3/y drops off in acceleration a lot after 100mph. Amhik my stock x3m do about 11.5 and after tune down to the 8s.

You are saying an X3M with a tune can get to 8s quarter mile? I've never seen that.

That's pretty impressive! Just be careful, this is what happened to a guy I know who with a combination of bolt-on's and custom tune did to his 10th Gen Civic Si:

That's not water under the car, and he's not praying . He was pushing around 350 whp

BMWs are designed to be problematic out of warranty. They want you to upgrade to the new style. BMW is a lifestyle brand

Congrats on the Tesla.

I wish they made the model Y with normal gauge cluster in front of steering wheel and Model S front styling.
These things are everywhere now lol.

I plan to test drive one and the Mach E as the EV options to
replace our X3.

That is the face of an extremely anguished man. Shortly after this, he bought a built block from from Two Step Performance and a year later blew his transmission (4th, and 5th gears)

Buys a used transmission and a few months later, the head bolts break and the head lifts while doing a run, of course running at 38 psi doesn't really help things

Does he give up? No, he buys a new built block, a remanufactured head and stronger head bolts

Now he is replacing his gears

That's dedication. 38psi is nutty even for an indestructible engine like the 2JZ. Speaking of that's one of the few engines/cars that can hang with the Plaid.

Should be running studs not head bolts.

That definitely is dedication. We keep telling him to just get a V8! He said after the new gearset goes in he's going to sell it and might buy a Q60. 38 PSI is completely nuts, he wasn't even really doing a run when the head bolt broke

Beautiful story! Similar to our purchase; I had had surgery on my foot and was on crutches. Sue drove the 2018 Model 3 Mid Range; she said a quiet "Wow." Game over.
