They’ve been building cars in Austin for months now. Tesla employees have been test driving and evaluating Austin builds for a long while now. Only very recently have any customers taken delivery. Understood that the cars are being built in Austin. I was referring to the fact that they built an inventory of 4680 battery cells in Fremont to be used in Austin because they were having issues with the battery production in Austin. I found an article that says they just began 4680 production in May. I hope they get to scale soon to relieve the constraints.

You can only get them if you live in Austin and have a order in with Tesla. They will give you an invite to get a 4680 version for cheaper but with less range (not much cheaper...maybe $2-3k).

Scaling will take 2 years IMO, about the same for Giga Texas in general.
