i don't think it does that. yeah tesla takes a boat load of cybertruck 'reservations' and then doesn't deliver for years.

i think the biggest bottleneck for companies like gm, ford, etc., is batteries. not much point in generating huge demand if you have no chance of filling it. unless you're tesla that is. i just looked on tesla's site and see they have the plaid X on there now. want one? you'll get it march-april!

On the contrary, I don’t think the demand is lost on GM’s various marketing departments at all. Several automakers have played this game whether the cars are ICE (see: Bronco) or EV. They love posting headlines that their car “sold out” in a very small amount of time.

There is a demand for EV's, but I personally think this is for marketing purposes. They have been creating a buzz with this vehicle for awhile now. Would be pretty lame if they couldn't even get reservations after all of that.... Limit the availability on launch, promote sell out. Have to keep that hype machine going. Besides, it's only $100 reservations, so I'm paying this no mind.

The headline reads “Sold out’ Very different than all reservations are reserved at the $100 refundable fee. These blog sites are terrible.

'Sold out' seems to mean 1500 Lyriq's have been reserved. Cadillac also states if still interested to contact your local Cadillac dealer. Like stated above- lots of hype, we'll have to see where this all goes.

Corvette is sold out for next 3yrs and they are actually making significant volume of cars.
This is a nothing story to generate hype imo.

I do like the design and hopefully Cadillac can reinvent itself for new EV future…..

Some of those Corvette "deals" may be falling through the cracks...or maybe vehicles getting repossessed because of non-payment. My GMC/Chevy/Buick dealer always seems to have a couple of them in the showroom no matter when I drop by.

I think some of you are missing the point. Even if GM is not ready or doesn't release the Lyriq, the fact remains that there is a large number of people who are willing to put money down, no matter how little too reserve a car that doesn't exist, or they have to wait for. This is a sure indicator that there is a significant demand for EV's. Batteries are a hurdle, but I believe charging infrastructure is the bigger hurdle. But now that we know there is demand both will be solved

People badly want electric vehicles even better if they have modern, sleek styling not a lump like the Bolt. I hope the production car looks just like the concept or pre-production or whatever it is. Looks great, and unique.

I don’t think so….there were 1500 online reservations at $100 that are refundable. That does not indicate there is demand. It’s a publicity stunt that online blogers fell for. The headline says “sold out” which implies they are sold. which they are not.

Just a blip for clicks. Initial "debut" edition. Nothing more, nothing less. But it gets the outlets to all write something, which gets them more clicks.

EVs are not hype and are not going away as much as you'd like them to.
