i'd still happily take one if i could... the acceleration is just too legendary and unlike previous teslas it still remains ridiculously quick even as the battery approaches flat

Where else can you get this level of turn key performance without using any gasoline or race car fuel? Heck…just go on the internet at this moment and just point, click and purchase.

People will keep buying the Plaid, Model S, 3 & Y, technology will continue to evolve and some people will just chose to be left behind. That's the way of the world

I Was referring to the hate it gets, which is totally unwarranted. I can't afford to buy one, it's far from perfect, but at least I respect the fact that it's an awesome piece of technology that can wipe the smile off most supercars 5x it's cost. People hate stuff without even knowing why

While I respect the technology that Tesla has, the rest of the industry will eventually catch up. The 0-60 and quarter mile thing has been done and is no longer impressive. Besides, there is more to a well-rounded vehicle than just eye popping acceleration. Here in Northern CA Teslas are like iPhones and nobody gives them a second look. As a car enthusiast, I would rather have something a bit less common and will patiently wait until more vehicles become available.

I'm in agreement with that, owning an EV myself, beating fast cars off the line has become boring. But what about an 1100 HP car that does it while being more efficient than a Prius? Or gets100 MPG equivalent with that much power?

I hate to say it but I'm no longer impressed. I would much rather see a cure for cancer or alzheimer's. I've worked for major semiconductor companies (AMD, etc.) and the tech doesn't fascinate me anymore. There will be more meaningful advances in healthcare that are much more important than transportation.

This is the general Car Talk section where everything automobile is discussed. There are Lexus specific areas where only Lexus is discussed. I moved here from the 2nd Gen IS forum after selling my IS350

I realize that and will retreat to Lexus-only land. Bye now.

That is true. But what Telsa has done for EV adoption is quite extraordinary. Big time change is heavily influenced by Tesla

I get it. But just to let you know you can skip the threads here that don't interest you and join ones that do. Or create one Lexus related. I found that the 2nd gen IS forum was good for finding specific information like the latest mods, getting part numbers, or instructions on maintenance items, but not for general discussion, which is why I come here

not sure which hate you're referring to, the Plaid is an amazing engineering feat. my only 2 complaints are obviously build problems and the stupid yoke (with variable ratio steering at least).
