I would love to know what led to you posting this. What point are you trying to make? Battery density can't be improved because one manufacturer had issues with a consumer product? Did you just decide to completely ignore all the successes we've had with increasing battery power density over the last several decades with various types of batteries because of the Galaxy Note 7? Even if you simply don't like electric vehicles there's been problems with ICE developments at every stage as companies attempt to lower weight and cost while increasing efficiency. That doesn't mean we just throw in the towel and start campaigning against progress. Well, maybe you do I guess.

In the EV world what is "heavy" is just different. EVs also carry their weight better because its low in the center of gravity of the car.

Believe it or not, the COG is way lower in that than it is something like an old Hummer.

The H1 just seemed unbelievably massive in the context of when Arnold started driving one around and everything around it was dramatically smaller.

Shouldn't EVs be lighter so they require less energy (that probably comes from a FF fired plant to begin with)?
Legit question, why should it only apply to ICE cars?
Also, where are the people who declare anything that's not a Sentra is a huge dangerous battering ram bc of the weight? (like trucks, like this Hummer)

Not really. The Hummer EV is 32 inches longer and just as wide and tall. It also has all the creature comforts you'd expect a high priced 2022 vehicle to have. The Hummer H1 had very little in the way of convenience items adding weight.

I do think the new Hummer EV is pretty awesome.

But the original military hummer still weights less. Right? Just crazy. Imagine how heavy a Chevrolet Suburban might weight. Criticizing the weight of the Hummer EV is definitely warranted, anything that heavy needs to be built to far higher standard, just costs more. And you are seeing that in the high purchase prices. And repair parts will be higher $$ too
I do think the new Hummer EV is pretty awesome.
