When you buy a current EV, the technology for it will improve significantly in years to come which will make a current owners EV, near obsolete in 10 years (less really). Sure, the car will run for 10 years, but the resale value of it 10 years from now will crater - if it has any resale value 10 years from now at all, except for recycling it. As soon as you see the next generation battery packs on the horizon, sell it ASAP.

How many buyers want 0-60 in 3.1 in this segment (or any segment except sports cars)? Who really needs that? OK the dual motor extends the battery pack size, but that's about it. Single motor was a smart choice.

That Polestar dash is indeed better, Tesla can get away with their current dash because again, their buyers will accept anything. Over time, my guess is that Tesla will have to add a HUD to their cars to project some center gauge cluster items.
BTW, a battery degradation study was conducted using a sample of 350 Model S & X over 150,000 miles, and the State of Health (SoH) showed the batteries only lost 10% capacity. Here's a graph from the study:

https://www.chargedfuture.com/electr...y-degradation/

There are many documented cases with Tesla's reaching 250K before needing a battery replacement

In ten years, the only new ICE you'll see in are heavily hybridized 4-cylinders like the recent AMG C-Class cars. Killing EV's won't save your precious V8's.

Its the government that is killing ICE cars - first with draconian emission regulations, and when those failed as manufacturers were able to meet them, now with outright sales bans. EVs, if left to a true market without subsidies and ICE sales bans, might account for 30% of sales someday. People who live in apartments or otherwise attached housing without garages for home charging, etc, would never consider an EV. Also people in colder climates don't want them. I won't buy one for a simple reason - I won't let the government force me to buy a particular car, I'll stay in the pre-owned market forever if I have to.

Haha the government made me do it 🤣. Lovely. How do you explain Europe being at 30 percent EV adoption and growing? Norway, which is one of the coldest countries on earth is past 56 percent EV adoption. Try again please...

CORRECTION

86 percent of cars sold in Norway are EV'S. Sorry about that 😃

@AMIRZA786 this is a great thread. We bought our Model 3 Mid Range 4 years ago December. I will buy another, perhaps March April timeframe. It will be a Performance.
We owners are rabid about our Teslas. Warts and all.

Haha thanks! You'll be happy to know that Tesla quality has vastly improved over the last 4 years. Elon finally starting listening to me . Next year I'll also be getting a Model 3 Performance as well.

I'm really excited to be able to go over the car tomorrow and review it

By the way, our car is perfect. I looked over everything when it was delivered.

Are they still leaving passenger lumbar off of the Model 3/Y's?

Way back when, I helped set up Tesla's residual models and programs. Tesla at that time communicated that they didn't believe in the "advance" model years like offering a 2023 in 2022 calendar year. They said they were certain that their customers didn't even care or note what model year their cars were thanks to all of their OTA updates. Tesla said the production year was the model year, full stop. So it's funny to see them now adopting traditional automotive model year conventions.

It could be a 2022, I may be wrong! I was only guessing. I'll look at what the car in his app says tomorrow. BTW, manufacturer date is 11/2022

I would even forgive the dumb horn button because I haven’t really had to use it much.
No, I can dismiss it entirely lol. I like using the top of the wheel.

I can’t speak for the Model 3 buyers but in the Model S forum, those people absolutely want a 2023 MY now. Many this year and last year delayed their orders just so they could get the newest MY even though there was zero difference in the car.

The changeover in model years is typically near the middle of November. My Plaid is a 2022 that was built in 11/21 and people on the Model S forum have already confirmed that the 2023’s are rolling out already.

I believe any Model 3 built on or after October 4 will be a 2023. I bet Amirza786 BIL car is a '23. We'll see.
By the way, Tesla is not taking any new Model 3 Long Range AWD orders now due to strong demand. Only RWD and Performance.
