PepsiCo has 700 semi trucks in their fleet suddenly $40,000 doesn't seem insignificant. And even if you were to only save $40,000 in total, you do it no questions asked.

you seem to be thinking or even hoping the EV semi truck industry won't happen. 'very expensive proprietary machines' are used in most industries so not relevant - cost of doing business.

the amazon ev van fleet is already happening (made by rivian): https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/tra...by-end-of-2022

I know EV tech is superior and just hoping they don't lock this new tech in to make it unaffordable for others.
if they make it unaffordable then there won't be much of a market. but i has to be done at scale with continual r&d to bring cost down. early ice cars cost a small fortune and were only for the rich.

source of info about this incentive? and no, it wouldn't go away despite your hopes.

Add me to the club and I have many reasons outside the scope of this thread but it is exciting times we are living in, for sure.

PS- I loved my Blackberry and would still be using it if they didn't go bye bye!
Don't be h8tin' haha

Anyone have the MSRP?
$200,000/$300,000 premium over a diesel truck from today.

a zero emissions Toyota fuel cell truck is smarter. Lighter, cheaper, goes father, has just a 12kwh battery, is easier to build because the lack of battery mass means the components do not have to be as strong as components are lighter to build. NO DOWNTIME as there is no charging which means a fuel cell can go 24hrs. Longer range. Then you add in the hydrogen semi combustion engines…. Fuel cell also gets the. $40K credit

^^ this is cheaper to build. Same existing chassis. A direct conversion over an all new chassis. Toyota doesn’t build the truck. They just provide the power train

Tesla has not said what the Semi will cost. In general they have said very little compared to past launches. We don't know the weight, power rating or cost. Fully loaded the rig goes from 0-60 in 21 seconds a fully loaded diesel semi has 0-60 measured in miles not seconds that's how slow they are.

Unloaded the Tesla Semi does 0-60 in about 5 seconds. That's right, Tesla's truck is faster 0-60 than almost every Toyota on the road.

Here are all the specs we know so far

Oh yeah, hydrogen is the future! Man, I can't wait! Don't worry, Toyota will eventually sell those Murai's they are practically giving away. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long.....

That FCEV semi is slower than a diesel version. Here is the article link, it was in Jill's post but she removed it for some reason.
https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota-...nzeff-project/
The primary goal for Toyota and Kenworth’s participation in the project was to nearly match the performance of diesel-powered drayage trucks
Fail.

So what you are trying to say LEX is someone is advocating for hydrogen, making claims that it's a superior technology, but only giving us part of the information in a cutoff screenshot, but hiding the the full picture. That's quite an accusation my friend

Like the Mirai, I will let the success of Toyota's hydrogen semi speak for itself.

In 2017 they were said to be ~ $150,000. Its hard to say the final cost because they are bought through fleet departments etc,

Companies arent going to buy trucks that wont serve their needs or will cause them huge operational issues in the future to save $40,000 on a truck that is already going to me more expensive than a traditional Diesel truck.

LOL, what!? Where did you hear that? A $200k/$300k PREMIUM? What do you think a semi-truck costs?

In any event, if it were a $200k/$300k premium that would prove how silly saying companies only bought them for the $40k credit is. They would still be paying $160k/$260k more.

That's my concern and reality of where this will trend.

Almost zero maintenance and repair vs. anyone can repair but it costs a small fortune.

Tough choice.
