Had to head to the office today to perform some maint and updates....the life of someone who chooses IT . Decided to take the Polestar, haven't driven it in a couple of weeks. My son has been regularly driving it and because of his extremely busy schedule (he's taking EMT classes) it hasn't been washed in awhile, and there is a carwash right near the office. I forget how much power this thing has...nearly 500 hp. You can feel the difference between this car and the Model Y, which it will run rings around easily. On my way to the office doing a couple of light to light runs, I guess I caught the attention of a few cars including a guy in a Mercedes who also wanted to play, but sadly struggled to keep up . A guy in a Model 3P next to me just ignored me....

I'm seriously thinking of going back to driving the Polestar. If we do end up getting the Ioniq 5 this Tuesday, I'm thinking of moving the drivers around, I go back to the Polestar, my wife drives the Model Y, and my son drives the Ioniq 5. Anyway, we'll sort it all out. Some pics when heading to the office and at the office:

In the Car Wash

I've reached 21,000 miles on the Polestar, and tomorrow is my first service appointment. New oil and filter change, and it should be good as new...oh wait

LoL, I couldn't resist

Besides tire rotation, inspecting the brakes, suspension, motors etc. If there is a stable software update, they will apply the update. Other than that...

Oh yean, let not forget....add windshield wiper fluid

Tires on the Polestar 2 should NOT be rotated. The tire sizes are the same but rim sizes differ.

I have 26K miles and haven't gone for service yet . I haven't gotten around to it. Hopefully soon.

Actually you are correct. I believe the front rims are slightly bigger, also front tires are inflated 1 or 2 psi more

I have 32k on my Plaid and haven’t been to service once for maintenance. I put some good all seasons on and they lasted over 25k miles and had half tread left but I got a nail in the sidewall so got two new rear tires. I should probably change the wipers though, still on originals. I have been to the service center for other things though which I didn’t care for but not maintenance.

Did your maintenance light go off? On the Polestar it's in your face and you have to hit 'OK' every time you put it in gear. I can reset it but rather let the service center do it. One of the reasons I'm taking it in is I want them to inspect things like the suspension and drivetrain. Also I want them to do a battery report on the pack.

One thing you want to make sure you service is your cabin filters. Dirty filters will mess with HVAC efficiency

I have never had a maintence light/warning go off. For my cabin filters I would hope that they replaced that when the replaced my a/c system when it failed but you know what happens when you assume...

On another note, my rental Model 3 smells god awful when I start the a/c. My family complains everytime we get in the car and turn it on.

Common 3/Y problem. Location of the cabin air filter is known for getting mildewy. Fix is relatively easy (take out the cabin air filter, spray the disinfectant, replace CAF) but I could see them not doing it often. Hopefully this gets remedied in the 3 update.

Especially if you live in places with high humidity. I had this same issue with both my 2006 Camry and IS350. Replacing the cabin filter would fix the smell. I eventually started using the washable ones from K&N

While my Polestar is being "serviced", they set me up with an Enterprise rental:

A 2023 Polestar 2 Dual Motor. This one is equipped with the Pilot pack, which adds their adaptive cruise control and other features like warning lights on the mirrors. I can feel that they really improved the suspension, which feels softer than mine. It also doesn't have the Performance upgrade, so it's 70 hp less, I can the difference especially at freeway speeds. The coolest thing is I don't have to visit a gas station, I can return it at any state of charge!

Some Polestar news:

Polestar (PSNY) hits production milestone as 150,000th Polestar 2 rolls off the assembly line

Up-and-coming EV maker Polestar (PSNY) just announced a significant production milestone. The Swedish EV maker’s 150,000th Polestar 2 electric sedan rolled off the assembly line Wednesday as it expands the brand globally.

Polestar was known for its high-performance vehicles built alongside Volvo for over two decades. However, after Geely bought out Volvo, Polestar was established as a standalone Swedish EV maker in 2017

Revealed in February 2019, the Polestar 2 put the company on a new trajectory towards a cleaner future as its first 100% electric vehicle.

The premium electric performance sedan has continued to expand the Polestar brand globally, becoming a market leader in key markets, including Norway, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Belgium, and more

My Polestar services were completed, picked it up. They washed it and cleaned it up really good! Here is the "maintenance" items they performed:

I think those new windshield wiper blades actually added 100 HP! And that Wiper fluid...damn!

You got the high end wiper solvent not that peasant wiper fluid.
