LoL they even call it solvent instead of Windshield fluid.

I'm still getting used to maintenance being mostly inspections, with some fluid top offs like WW fluid. In 20K, my IS350 would have had 4 oil changes, each taking half the day. I'll admit though, I always looked forward to the that feeling of having new, clean oil running in my engine!

Yeah but to be fair, your IS was old. My 2016 in 20k miles only needed two oil changes one of which is free and each one took 2 hours which in my opinion is too long but I always waited. Same for your Polestar, it doesn’t seem like much was done but they still gave you a loaner. Seems like the work done would have taken max one hour.

My BMW is worse, I go in every 10k miles and I get a loaner. I make an appointment first thing in the morning and it takes like four hours to get it back.

The reason it took so long was they installed a "kick sensor" that opens the hatch. It was supposed to originally come with the car, but due to the parts shortages they delivered the car without it. It came in last year, but I was so busy I waited until my 20k maintenance to finally get it installed. Two birds, one stone

From my math, having to take your car in 2 times in 20k is 1 X more than 1

Touché! To be fair I loathe going to the dealer which is one of several reasons I bought Lexus cars over the last 15+ years since they were so reliable.

Also for my EV maintenance I haven’t been to the service center (which I also loathe and haven’t had good experiences in three trips) once! I just drive my car every day and barely pay attention to mileage because of it. In a little over a year and a half I’m at 32k miles already.

Also to be accurate, besides warranty work, in 32k miles I would have brought my car in 3x vs 0x for maintenance.

One of my friends has an M3 Competition, we have an ongoing bet that I can take him from a dig to about 70 mph, after that he'll probably walk me. We have a mutual friend who lives out in the boonies where there are a few empty roads and nothing but farmland, next time we are invited out there, I'm taking the Polestar and we'll do a couple of friendly runs. He's nervous about it, I'm not! It's all about science from my viewpoint . Of course, this is only because I have the Performance upgrade, otherwise I don't think I have chance. I've already taken on an M3 Sedan with the Twin-turbo 3.0L and I walked him pretty easy...M3 competition is another story, but I'm dying to find out!

Competition model isn't really any faster and unless its a new M3 with AWD there is no way he beats you to 70mph. The RWD doesn't launch well at all. Even the newer AWD would probably lose to 70mph.

Well, that's good to know, maybe I should put down some real money on this . No, keeping it friendly!

Yes I saw one at the Polestar San Jose space in the Westfield Mall. Really nice car, spacious and it has very premium interior. I think it's overpriced, once you start specing it, the price shoots north of $100k

Either G80 Comp would win handily, and the AWD wouldn't be even remotely close. He'd take a base 6MT from a dig in almost all cases. On paper, 0-60 including rollout (so actually starting from 0mph):

Polestar 2 w/performance upgrade: 4.2
G80 M3 base 6MT: 4.2
G80 M3 Comp RWD: 3.7
G80 M3 Comp AWD: 3.0

Getting that perfect launch out of the manual is extremely unlikely. But a 0.5 sec discrepancy isn't going to be easy to overcome even with a slightly imperfect launch. 1.2 seconds is impossible.

The F80 is obviously slower, and also has a lot of trouble putting power down, as you noted. The DCT was tested at 4.0, but good luck matching that time in the real world. It should at least be somewhat close though. The polestar would walk a manual F80 comp pretty hard.

Actually, after the last software update I'm now getting 3.7 seconds 0 to 60....my last run, no rollout, I just mashed the pedal:

100 percent I would lose to the G80 M3 Comp AWD (no illusions there ), but at least I wouldn't be annihilated, until maybe after 70 or 80 mph, than I'm sure I would be easily walked

Interesting. Even the higher-performance BST edition 270 doesn't get anywhere near those numbers in instrumented testing. I'll be curious to see the outcome.

The reason I said what I said is that on paper the Polestar should lose but getting a good launch using BMWs launch control is hit or miss (plus to be honest I thought the polestar did 3.7 0-60 until you showed the stat even though it looks like Amirza got that time). After 70mph is bye bye but launching an EV is just more consistent. It will certainly be interesting and I can’t wait to see the result.

My last run before the last update was 4.2 seconds. Keep in mind, the BST has the same exact motors as mine, the difference is it's lowered, has Ohlin suspension, tighter sway bars, Brembo brakes, and 20" tires. The 20" tires may even slow it down a little. Think of it as the F-Sport of Polestar. It will outhandle me on the track, but in a straight line we are probably dead even
