Default Reprogram/re-install instrument dashboard cluster

I am trying to import a car from Canada to the USA and in order to conform to US standards my instrument cluster must show an actual word BRAKE instead of an icon for a brake. The model of the vehicle is UX250h 2021. I called both a Lexus dealer and Lexus customer support, but both of them say they can't help. Is the cluster re-programmable or do I need to replace the whole dashboard instrument cluster?

You will need to find a cluster from a US UX250h if you want it to say BRAKE then have the mileage programmed into it to match your vehicle.

We can help if needed.

Do you mean I need to replace the whole cluster? Anyone in Colorado who can do it?

Yes. We wouldn't know of other companies that can do what we do.

It's something you can do yourself though. Don't pay a mechanic $200 to remove a few screws and swap the gauge cluster.

I am in the same situation for my RX350h and my wife’s NX350. I found a solution for the NX, I was able to buy a cluster faceplate.

Might be a solution for you too.

I need to take out the cluster, open it and replace the faceplate. Only difference between the faceplates is that BRAKE light.

I believe you can buy a US standard used cluster and just replace the faceplate. No need to reprogram anything. That’s what I will do for my RX.

This is the one that I bought:

Zoom in and you will see the BRAKE at the same location of the brake light.
