Default Anyone vacation or live in Florida?

I ask because I'm considering getting a timeshare or vacation rental over there, maybe along the gulf. If I go anywhere on holiday it's usually there (unless it's hurricane season...), since there are a lot of options for activities (I'm a bit of a scuba girl, hehe). And I get to drive my Lexus out there, of course. Plus, if/when I decide to have kids, Orlando is right in the midst of things with all those theme parks and their 12 dollar churros . Anyway, I'm pretty much new to that side of real estate and vacationing, so I was hoping someone could give me the lowdown, or maybe recommend some less busy spots?

Florida's west coast is definitely a lot less busy than SE Florida, that's for sure. I personally have never been scuba diving in the gulf, but there are plenty of pristine dive sites in South Florida and you have easy access to the Keys.

Keys as well, will 100% have to agree with ecr527. My family used to have a house down on the southern end of Key Largo on the Gulf side. Very quiet and pristine waters.

I've vacationed in Florida a few times, although never along the gulf. I hear the scuba there is awesome. I've mainly been in Orlando. But I don't know that I would personally invest in a timeshare as opposed to just normal vacationing, given the current issues. There was an article a little while ago in the Orlando Sentinel about how difficult they are to sell if you can't use or decide you don't want the property anymore. Plus there are so many scams out there; my cousin got stuck with a bum property that took forever to unload, he finally had to make arrangements with a timeshare relief company. Of course, you can still look around, I thought I'd just warn against that portion of your post, especially since you made that 12 dollar churro remark...ha!

West Coast of FL (Naples, Marco Island) is very quiet and the people are very friendly, It's basically a retirement & relaxation spot. Now you go over to the East Coast of FL or to the South and you get the crazy party spots and rude aggressive people that South Florida is famous for ... I've gotten use to it and have probably become one myself but hey, I grew up here I can't help it, 305 !! LOL but yea anyways the Keys are also pretty quiet but really $$pricey$$ right now ... So come down and have some fun, and most importantly don't forget to get a nice tan

Tampa Bay area here. Clearwater and downtown St. Pete both have busy and secluded places. South of Clearwater is Sand Key, Indian Rocks, Reddington Shores; lots of condos right on the water. Downtown St. Pete now has Baywalk, which is a nice area for shopping, relaxing, eating, etc.

SWFL here, Fort Myers area. Really depends on what kind of Florida living style you want. Relaxing? or Partying? Other thing is, how much you want to spend? Need any boating access? Water front property?
