oh boy ... here we go!
You will blow a 2j rod out the side before you do a 1j. The cost is Just as much as it would a 2j. I know of someone who made 803rwhp through a 1j. Yanked it and replaced it with a 2j and made less power. Both set up are tuned by Chris speed. Go figure. They are 2 different beast and each has it's pros and cons.
It comes down to where you spend your $$$$, period. When you run a 1j at the same hp level as you. Then you will understand what I am talking about now.
For the record. The first time Smiley broke into the 1000hp making 1042rwhp to be exact he did it through a stock block and worked head. And yes it was a 1j block. He wanted to push the limit so he sprayed and it went kaboom.

I hear you great one, you by far know more about engines than I do so I can't argue the point about rods.
However, I do think that we do agree that they're are more 2J's making more power than 1J's out here and the 2J is the engine of choice when it comes to making big power. If I'm wrong I'm sure that you'll correct me...

what about this senario a 1jz with 600hp and 2jzgTe with 600hp who will win??? hmmmm... i don't think that a 2jz gTe can rev tooooooo high cause Black Eye peas will start singing BOOM BOOM BOOM .. BOOM BOOM BOOM lol
