Default Acid bath!!!!!!!

I made a huge mistake today. At my new job, one of our former clients started a mobile car wash business and he usually works on everyone's car. The past month I told his several times that I wash my own car and would not need his services. He kept asking anyway. Finally, my boss asked me to give him a try once and if I didn't like the work, at least I tried. They are trying to support the efforts of this guy who has come a long way toward getting his life together. SO I gave in and let him do the car.
I went out to check on the work and noticed my wheels were turning blue. I asked what the heck was going on. The stupid guy used acid on my wheels.
Boy did I flip out.
They waxed the wheels 3 times and they look a lot better but it's still obvious there is a problem. Most won't notice unless they get real close but I am just really upset.
The guy told to have them professionally polished and he would pay for it. That's the only thing that kept me cool.
I will never, ever again go against my better judgement like that again.
WHo the heck still uses acid anyway? People suck.

You should only acid on chrome but only if it is very diluted. I detailed pro athletes cars for 5 years. Polished wheels turn so hazy. He must have let that stuff sit to long. Sorry man, that sucks. If I were you I would accept nothing less than new wheels.

Not too many people gonna shell out new wheel money if there isnt major damage.

I see where your coming from but if it comes out different than when he dropped it off than the guy is responsible regardless. Why should the car owner be put out, besides the detailer should have insurance. Either way it sucks.

Yeah things like this could strain relationships between friends and get ugly, hopefully the rims can be fixed and everybody can celebrate at the grand opening of my newly built ***** house in miami. CL members get free admission.

I wouldn't call someone with a mobile car wash a detailer. He calls himself that but I disagree. There are hundreds of guys with a truck and a water tank like this around south florida. I'm sure none of them have insurance.
Look, I was stupid to listen to someone else. I did this against my better judgement. I'm happy he offered to pay for polishing.

I trust a drive thru car wash more then people. Sucks to hear Reggie, I would actually take it to a wheel specialist and have them redo the wheels over. I bet the brush finish had a clear coat over it.

Yeah, the clearcoat protected the centers. It's the lips and barrels that are showing discolorization.

There was a beautiful set of Autocouture wheels in the classifieds a couple weeks ago and I passed. Now I wish I had pulled the trigger on them.
