"Motor oil"....whats everyone using on there boosted cars?
I've been going back and forth with a few people about this topic. Some folks down here recomend Valvoline VR1 racing oil 20w50 and others prefer Mobil 1 10w30 for FI engines.
I have used both before, but I would think 10w40 would be best in our climate and its not to thick for cold starts. From doing some research alot of folks shy away from the 20weight because is too thick for cold starts and from what some speculate it would cause premature wear of the rod and main bearings.I know nothing is going to last forever, but is a pain in the *** blowing a motor due to bearing failure.....I been there before
So lets open this up and tell us what motor oil you are using and why?

VR1 RACING OIL great stuff................................................................for drag racing . formulated for quick use
i use and only use mobil 1 15w50.. tried royal purple , turned to water in no time.. 10w30 too thin.. 15w50 has kept my original 14 yr old 600 rwhp singing along very quietly

On their website you can see that is it a conventional. I just looked at the bottle and it doesn't say. They also make the "Not street legal" racing oil which is what Ed is talking about changing the oil more often (500miles). They make that in conventional and synthetic. The NSL also has more calcium than the vr1.
The vr1 is a normal 3000 mile conventional oil that has a higher zinc and phosphorus content.
