Default Fs: Piaa 9005 Platinum Super White Bulbs New Bulb

anybody interested in these bulbs. they are brand new, never opened. asking $65.00 shipped.
as folks here have done, these can be modified to fit lowbeams in place of the 9006, or highbeam.

Default direct replacement for the OEM bulbs

this would be a way to get more light on the road out of your halogens, without going HID modifed. i purchased the bulb set for my wifes car, but money is tight and we are going to purchase tires for the car instead. trying to get my money back now.

let me know of you are interested, retail price for these bulbs would run just over $100.00+tax.

I'm not savvy on how they can be "modified." Would they work in any car with no problem?

Are these the U.S version?

Any pics?

Also, these can be had for about $70 at Autobacs in L.A. is the price workable?

Thanks.

Default modification

all that need to be done to modify them is to cut a small part off the left part of the center tab and then remove the 2 inner groves on the inside of the housing.

there are several threads which refer to modifying the 9005 bulb to fit the 9006 housing.

i did the removal of the center tab with fingernail clippers. i removed the inner groves on the inside of the bulb by melting the plastic by placing the tip of a soldering iron on the grove till it melted.

total time was about 10 minutes per bulb including installation. this was on my wifes es300 which made a dramatic difference. the 9005 bulb is a 65 watt bulb.

let me know if you have any other questions.

Well I have a '95 Civic that have very poor light output. I'll check and see what kind of bulb it takes.

So what you're saying is that I need to see if the housing is either 9005 or 9006, right?

BTW you have to put the (IMG)xxx(/IMG) on your sig to get your pic to show up. But use brackets not parenthesis. That's the only way I could demonstrate.

Default thats right

check to see if you have the 9005 or 9006 setup on the civic. if it has the 9005, then you just install these bulbs. if you have the 9006, then just do the modification to these bulbs and you are in business.

fyi, i installed them in my wifes es300 by doing the modification and it made a significant increase in the light dispersed to the road. i have a set of 9005 silverstars which i am contemplating installing in my gs300. if i dont get any takers for the piaa superwhites, i will install them instead and put the sylvania silverstars up for sale instead.

anyways, let me know if you are interested in the piaa bulbs.

here's how mine is entered (brackets though)

(IMG)https://www.clublexus.com/gallery/da...re1-pman72.jpg(/IMG)

You must have the URL wrong. Go to your gellery and right-click on your picture and hit PROPERTIES - it should have an URL like that with gallery/data/####/ and all of that jazz like you see in my example.

BTW I need the 9003 bulb for the Civic so I can't use yours. $67 is a good price, though. Would have been all over that otherwise.

Redbaron,

The picture you're trying to use is a full size picture of your car... the max size for a signature is 450 x 100 - the one you linked to is 640 x 480 which is way to big.

Ask someone in the photoshop forum to hook you up with a signature based on that picture or we can link in the litle thumbnail like this one which I'll go ahead and do for you
