he's got a new shortblock... 45k on it. he's selling it with an aftermarket set of rims and tires (worth more money) To the right buyer, a SC300 making 300-400 rear wheel hp is worth more.

but some people might want a stock car with no modification ,
i guess u would be more interested in buying modified car ,
but i've had seen more people looking for a stock car

I would say that, all things being equal, and without seeing the car, that a fair asking price would be in the neighborhood of around $13.5k. Now, having said that, a couple of caveats. It is a 5 speed, so _most_ people would prefer an automatic. That's just the general marketplace. Also, if you have (your bro has) all the service records and if it's been serviced at a Lexus dealership, that would be a plus. Finally, if a buyer is serious, he/she would most likely want a good PPI done on the car, and of course if anything serious were found, that could affect the price.
AAMOF, I might be interested in the car myself. Only thing there is that I'm selling a house in AZ at the end of August and moving to the Tulsa area in the beginning/middle of September. Distance is not a factor to me (or at least not much of one, heck, I've flown up to Vancouver BC for a 2002tii before and driven it back to AZ) but condition/service history/what needs to be fixed/looked at in the first 6 months or so of ownership is definitely a big factor. So, if you could tell me where the car is (Florida?) and if you could also let me know if it's still available around the middle of September, I'd be interested in checking it out. You can pm me or email me at kjtar@earthlink.net if you want.

?? The buyer would be responsible for the picking up or transporting of the car. I know a guy who transports for a living and it's really not that big a deal to hire someone to go pick up and transport the car to the (eventual) buyer's location. And, it's really not that big a deal to fly to (in this case) the Fullerton, CA area and drive the car back. Heck, it's like an adventure or a vacation. If I have the funds after the sale/purchase of the houses by mid-September, it will be fun to do it. The hard part is determining by long distance if the car (in this case, any car) is worth purchasing and for how much. That's why it's good to get sources of either dealers or indpendents in the area and have a good PPI performed. But, as I say, all that can be handled.
I hope your bro manages to sell the car (for his sake) but if not, I'll be looking forward to talking with you and/or him about it in about a month or so. For a long distance car-buying adventure if you guys/gals want something to read and maybe chuckle over, see my page at http://www.home.earthlink.net/~kjtar/
and click on the link that says "My 1973 BMW 2002tii Travelogue Page. ("Travels with Turkis!")

Yeah, I checked in my CPI and prices ("Good" condition) for SC300s in general are down 4% from their last edition, which was 2 months ago. Sell now, and even worse, winter's coming soon...

$9500 is not bad at all !!! I guess that was a good buy !!! You won't see that deal in Cal though !! very difficult to find one epecially in Southern Cal with California title !!!
Most likely sell it to this guy from Texas, but wait til all the cash to come in.....
