if the phones are unlocked why is it for tmobile customers only?

I think it has something with the band. one of the band is for pix messages and other stuff and i heard that AT&T can't support it or something. That's what the IT department told me. Tmobile can use it's full capability or something.

I'll try to do some research on this but other inputs would be helpful also.
