Default Vizio 42" 1080p LCD (new model) at costco with $200 off

members should have received the coupon book by now already. they are going to have the new vizio 42" 1080p lcd tv starting 6/25 for a week with $200 off. rumors are still going on wrt to the msrp of the tv, but it's believed to be 1199. so with 200 off it's going to be 999.

i think that's some hot price for a tv of this size. it's not high end brand like samsung of course, but vizio has been going on decently over the years i think.

i am thinking about getting this tv for our bedroom, umm...

MY cousin had something like this in his room, not saying i'm much a fan of that TV brand in general. I could see diagonal lines going across the picture, and overall picture quality was sub par.

Right now a 42" Westinghouse is going for around $949 at Best Buy. I have one and it works great. It is the 1080i model and has the hdmi hook ups along with many others. I heard a few bad things about the Vizio's. I also heard that Westinghouse is made by Magnavox but can't back that up right now.

i wonder if anyone can give comparisons between vizio and westinghouse in terms of picture quality and overall quality. they are both low end stuff for sure. i saw the westinghouse at bb and compared to my panny plasma it's nothing. but i figured it's just for my bedroom so something cheap is fine.

i know vizio 1080i goes for cheaper too, around 800 bucks. this new 1080p unit is new so it's more expensive. though i have to say i don't think i will take advantage of 1080p for quite a while to come

well they changed their policies already so you can't bring it back after a year (not like i would do that).

anyway, since you work at costco, do you know if a lot of people return this tv (the vizio brand) due to defects/quality issues? i know a lot of people (and i hate that) return them after a year just so they can get something else, i can care less about them.

costco probably has some exclusive relationships with vizio, they sell a lot of them. so i think it might be a good indicator

henry- i picked up a vizio monitor and it has been working great for the past 3 months. i got the 46" inch. havne't hung it on the wall yet but maybe sometime this year i will.

as far as the price - nothing beats the 37" lcd panel they offer for $800. unbelievable price.

well - unless you have a $200 off coupon for the 42.

I think laying down sideways thing only apply to plasma and not LCD.

Imagine what would happen to notebooks if that really applied to LCD's.

i thought the same too. for lcd you should be able to do them sideways. laptop screen is one thing, and also most lcd monitors they are laid sideways

on the other hand, tube tvs and plasma are a nono. take a tube tv and say even if you flip it upside down, the pictures are all messed up already. plasma it can do damage as well, wonder if it has to do with the weight?

Vizio 47" 1080p LCD at Costco is now $1649....just a couple months ago...it was 1899...then 1799...then 1749. Is it the same price on US Mainland? Just wondering.

i am not sure if it's the exact same price, but i think around 1600 is fair for it these days. this year (especially summer) there are a lot of new lcd tvs rolling out, especially moving to even bigger screen size. that's why the crazy drop in prices since early this year (on both plasma and lcd)
