The government is giving out $3500-$4500 if you trade in your "clunker" for a new car.

1. Check if your car meets requirements
Your "clunker" must
- Get less than combined EPA MPG of 18. Check here if you qualify

- Be owned / registered / insured to you for at least a year
- Be driveable
- Be newer than 1983 model

2. Check how much your car is worth
- Go to KBB.com and check how much your car is worth

- If it's trade-in value is worth over $4500, ignore this government offer and just sell the car. Keep in mind your car may not sell for trade-in value

3. Check how much you can get from the government
- Depending on what kind of car you trade in and buy, you can either get $3500 or $4500.
