i just got a GS300. the little button on the key to lock and unlock is not working so i got a new battery for it and its still not working..the "remote ON OFF" button under the dash is turned ON. and the key will not lock and unlock. i open the car manually with the key and the alarm goes on..i put the key in the ignition and the alarm stops but the car will not start. is there a way to get the car to start...any help would be gr8

 

if you replaced the battery and still nothing i would say its probably a bad ECU. i dont know about the alarm going off and all that, but i would definately call up your local lexus dealership and have them look at it. you have a warranty right?

 

Sounds like, while the key works, the remote that goes along with it is not the correct one for your car. A Lexus dealer can program your car to accept the signal from your key remote.

(They have to press the button on your key and then turn on-off the ignition and press the brake pedal a certain # of times - somebody did a write-up on the procedure but it was not for the 1st gen)
