Yeah you lost your power steering. Might be the pump. Check your PS fluid, though.

He's talking about the power steering pump, it sounds like it got messed up doing donuts in the parking lot. Do you hear any strange sounds from you engine now? Is your car dripping fluid? Is the belt okay?

There is a power steering pump. It pumps that fluid through the system. Since you don't have a leak I'm guessing that's the prob.

Maybe your alignment is seriously tweaked.

Default belt

The bump sounds remind me of what used to happen on an old car of mine. There would be sounds accompanied my a strange shuddering of the wheel. I believe the problem in that case was improper tension of the power steering belt.

Yah maybe you're lucky and you just tore up the belt...sounds like something is NOT moving in the PS system. Pop the hood and have a friend turn the wheel and see what is making the clunk.

I actually blew my PS out on my Beretta when I was 16 doing backwards donuts, same issues, but I was 16, ahahahahaha SPINS

haha you weren't doing your donuts right then. No reason to blow power sterring doing them unless your going fast and throwing the car into a 360 or something. I do donuts unless your **** is sliding around real hard, which my lex can't do even if i wanted to, i don't know how your ps could get ****ed from thatt? I know my steering was funny when I had a frocked alignmnet.

I gotta tell ya, dude.....I'm not so sure about the power steering pump. If your steering the wheel is accompanied by thumps, you have screwed the rack up. But first, I would replace the variable speed valve. Its a little valve screwed into the pressure line at the pump with a few vaccuum hoses hooked to it. It is designed to cut your power steering pressure down at crusing speeds so the steering won't be so touchy. But, if you got noises and bumping when you steer, I'm afraid your rack is dying. Sorry to give you the bad news. This is not a cheap item. Message me if you need some help diagnosing the problem.

Lightbulb this happend to me once

this happen to me once, i was power breaking my yukon smoking the sh@# out of the tires but i turned the wheel to stay straight, then i stoped everything was fine but when i took the truck off and turned it back on i lost all power steering "take it from me you do not want to drive a 6.0 yukon without power steering, it's like bench pressing after sex".
it's your pump you gotta take it apart and see for your self, cause every situation is not the same,i did blow my pump, but you may have just poped a vac line or something get it cheaked first.

and thats real ballzy to light up a gs300, i had a supercharged excurtion with a 50 shot, and i use to race with the best of them, some turbo hondas would get walked from the biggest and heaviest SUV around, it was very shamefull.
sorry did'nt mean to hijack, just showing that what you're doing is'nt so weird, one word of advice that i can give is when you're doing it do not lock the wheel it put's extra stress on the pump and this is what pop's it, look at how many people do burnouts and get no problems.....

hope this helps
