Default Hood Struts

Just received a new set of hood struts I got off Ebay for my 93' LS400 and while they are not Lexus struts, they look almost identical to the original ones. However, now I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to remove the original ones. The task looks easy enough, however, they have some ball type joint that must be removed and fitted into the new ones. Does anyone know how to remove the existing struts?? Thx.

Suggest anyone looking for new struts to head to Ebay where more new sets are being offered daily.

Thumbs up hood struts replacement

..this may be of some help ...step-by-step on how to replace the hood struts on the LS.
Author said he got the replacement part of the strut at Autozone for around $16 each.

I have a '93 Gs300 ... but i'm not sure if the LS and GS use the same strut, plus mine doesn't even have the old struts, which u need to get the ball part out...so I haven't tried it.
