Default Location of Coolant Drain Valves

I am interested in flushing my cooling system and I read that their are drainvalves (petcocks) on the engine block. Does anyone know where these are located?

There is only one on the block and it is more of a bolt. Look on the side of the engine with the exhaust manifold. The bolt will be between cylinders 5&6. You will need a long extension to reach it from above but you will only be able to see it from below. Something blocks it so you cant get to it from underneath.

I had to call the Lexus dealer and ask them and they pretty much didn't know where it was either until someone finally told me that and it worked.

Let me know if you can't find it.

There's an easier way, just disconnect the rubber tube at the bottom of the radiator. the turbe is about 2 inch or so in diameter and is located on the passenger side of the radiator. just unhook it let it drain, fill up with distilled water, run the engine, let it drain then repeat, then fill again with 50/50 distilled and coolant.

Ya, that's what I did. I thought that draining the block would get every last bit of crud out of the cooling system.

Yeah, you really don't want to skip draining from the block. A whole lot of fluid was dumped out when we finally got that sucker loose.
