Question 1994 GS300 Fans not working

My mechanic just called me and told me that neither one of the two fans are working. When he pulls out the fan relay and begins to put it back in just as its making contact the fans kick on. When he pushes the relay in the fan stops spinning :-(

Any body have a ideas as to what may be causing that.?????

Do you have a belt driven fan in your car? I am not sure what year they changed to electric. If you do then the other two fans are auxilary fans. They only go on when your car really heats up and when you turn on your a/c.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, the main fan is belt driven. I believe it is attached to a fan clutch which was verified as being Okay by the mechanic.

Ok the main clutch belt driven fan is the important one as it is what mainly cools your engine and keeps it from overheating. The two electric ones are auxilary fans. The second fan, on the same side as the cluth fan, which is the bigger electric fan will only turn on when you have your a/c on. The little fan on the other side of the radiator is another backup fan which will not turn on untill the other electrical fan is on and the car is still getting too hot. In other words unless your water temp is at a certain fairly high temperature those other fans don't turn on. I don't think your fans are broken your mechanic is just confused lolz. But just incase try this, drive your car around for a few minutes and warm it up, then park the car and turn on the a/c the electrical fan next to your belt driven fan should then turn on.

Thanks fo the info. I just received an update from my mechanic. He indicated that he ran the car again and this time around when he checked the lower radiator hose for pressure and heat it was almost nonexsistent. He was able to grasp the hose and hold it for several minutes. This after running the car for over 15 minutes. This is good news since this points to the thermostate.

I just wanted to that you on helping me out with the info.
