in the 1994 gs... there is a 10" sub and i was told from my local car stereo shop that in order to replace the sub... you will have to get a special AIR FREE SUB since the OEM uses the trunk as the box? if so...what brands makes an AIR FREE SUB? please help...

great question... my stock sub in my '96 blew out so I took it out and replaced with a 12in sub in a sealed box. Do you guys recommend this route or would it be better to replace the stock sub I took out? just curious.

Did you lose a good amount of trunk space with the box?? If you can live with it, I'd say keep it.
I believe that it is easier to "tune" a sealed or ported sub compared to a free-air one.
Plus, when you open your trunk to "thump" with your friends, it all goes away with a free-air sub

I lost some space in the trunk, but nothing I can't live with... plus, when absolutely necessary, I can unplug and remove it. I just like the stock look stometimes.... having a nice clean uncluttered trunk would be nice.
