The stories I've heard about stainless lines is mostly in regard to kinking them or having them rub on some suspension component. In those cases, the lines were replaced because they were obviously damaged....no failures to date either.

Last year I had an OEM brake line failure on my '80 Celica, not bad for a 24 year old car. The others are obviously swollen at the fittings so they are due for replacement too.

Just like you Jess, I try to do everything myself since i have the tools and like to do it.

In regards to my brake upgrade, I paid my friend for his time in helping me install the rotors and brakelines. Basically we each did 50% of the job and finished everything in about 4 hours.

Goodridge stainless steel braided brake lines have become the standard in professional motorsports where the ultimate in braking is required. There is no room for volumetric expansion, or “mushy brakes” caused by rubber lines.
A highly efficient braking system allows you to get deeper into the corner and onto the accelerator faster. Additionally, when G-Stop/Brakeline Kits brake hoses are used with an ABS braking system they virtually eliminate brake pedal “ chatter” and significantly reduce stopping distance

This part is suitable for the following models:
