Rear Brake question
I have my rear rotors off and am just about to get them turned (found a place that'll do it for $14 each while I wait)
I have new pads ready to go but stupidly forgot to get the parking brake shoes. I hope to get some from NAPA today.
I'm concerned about being able to slip the rotor back on with these new pads (if I get them today) since they'll obviously have a larger diameter than the olds ones .
I notice the "star" adjustment at the bottom of the shoes. Can anyone who's replaced them tell me if there's anything else besides adjusting the 'star' I need to take care of when installing new shoes to make sure the rotors will slide back in ?
Thanks !
John

Oh well, after futzing around I figured this out. The stars go outward to spread the parking brake drums. You unfortunatly have to adjust them with the rotor off the car...
I got the disks back from the shop the day after christmas. There's nothing like the look of freshly turned rotors !!
I had a heck of a time putting the disk pads back in with the 2 springs which keep the pads spread. But I put the pads together, then put the springs in, then wrapped both pads and the springs with rubber bands. This held everything together while I put the pads into both sides of the caliper, which was in good shape. Once in, I cut the rubber bands and pulled the bands out - everything held in place...
