Default Antenna

who here has actually got the antenna to go up and down on a aftermarket headunit. I STILL freaking can't figure it out and its bugging me. I just got a new Alpine 9835 headunit and i can't get the antenna to go up and down because of the multiple antenna wires on the stock harness. can someone please tell me which wires to use. thanks.

Cool

I did ,it's easy, you have to power up 2 wires I don't remeber the colors and I'm not going to yank out the deck and look. Easiest way is to use a testlight or multimeter and plug in the stock deck and turn the power on and off via the front volume **** and test each wire to find the 2 that change as you turn power on and off.

dam, still no help. i already sold my stock headunit about 2 years ago. i have had a aftermarket headunit for the last 2 years with no antenna, but since this is a nicer deck i would like to use the FM once in a while. also i spliced up my stock wiring since there is no kit for this car.

Cool

What wire colors do you have left? They will both be in the main harness that you got power from. Process of elimination should leave you with about 3 or 4 wires. It's the same colors as a forerunner, i wanna say black/red and ......

mine has been working for 2 years now on my clarion. I don't remember which wire is which i can tell you in a week or so when i take out my headunit again. All i did was went to the back of the trunk and found out which 3 wires..... there are 3 of them..... go from the antenna to the dash by the radio. I then just put all 3 wires together and viola it works. I also got an adapter that takes both antenna plugs the big one and the little one and merges them into one plug that goes into the clarion.

Actually, there are only 2 that are needed. You may have hooked up 3, however only 2 are needed for the antenna.

hmm i don't recall...... i had to use my fluke multimeter set to the continuity mode to figure out which wires came from upfront so they prabobly aren't the same colors.

wow, your telling me you had a wire stretch from the front of the car to the trunk just to test the continuity. i haven't had a chance to go figure it out yet. i hate takin my dash apart. i feel like i'm gonna mess up the headunit.
