Default Wheel studs broke off...how to fix

My wheel studs broke off, causing my rim to fall off while driving/turning...not fun.

Just wondering how I go about fixing this?

You can pound out or press out the old ones or remove the hub and take it to someone to press out the old ones and reinstall new ones. call some places that do brakes and other types of repairs for quotes.

More importantly why did this happen and how can you prevent it from happening again, I mean does over torquing cause it or what?

When you change tires never tighten the lugs with a 4 way.Mine are tighten to 86 ft.lbs.

I think it happened to me because i was jipped on lug nuts when I got the car and the back tire had only 3 nuts holding the tire on.

Did you just not know or did you drive around without the 2 missing lugs?

As for what to do now, what turbogs300 said.

Oh I got them replaced, wasnt too much work. I'm just real weary on driving around though, just because i'm paranoid it could happen again.

Cool

As long as you got 5 on it, it won't break again

If you were driving around with two lug nuts missing for a while and one of the studs eventually broke, I would change them all because they are all probably weakened from missing two lug nuts. This is just to be safe but I think it's worth changing them all because the other ones might break and cause a big accident. Plus, you'll save money on labor if you get them all changed at the same time.
