Default Console Wood Trim Replacement

Hi all,

I am new to this board - I have to say that so far it is great. I have a '94 GS300 with cracked wood around the shifter (sounds common). I was looking through the posts but most of the sources/info was old. Does anyone have a good source for replacement wood? The local dealer quoted something like $600 to me - wow. Also, is this an easy thing to replace?

Any input on this topic would be much appreciated.

Very easy to replace, obviously if you want real wood it's going to be more expensive. Do a search on google you'll find there are lots of choices.

Does anyone have any experience with a particular vendor? I find replacements available at places like 'Exotic wood dash' etc. that say it is OEM pattern. I am not sure if this is that cheap sticker stuff or not.

Lexus quoted me $600 for a NOS/OEM replacement. Seems kind of high to me. It is a flat plank after all.

Default Guidance needed on replacement of shifter wood trim

Hey all,

I have the replacement OEM wood shifter trim piece in my hands. It came with glue and looks great. But...how do I get the old one off cleanly and get the new one stuck down perfectly? Do I have to take the shift console apart? Any help would be most appreciated. Been a while since I had to fix anything on my '93 but its still goin' strong. Only 122k on it!
