how does the ashtray come out? do i pull on the ashtray itself or do i pry on the entire assembly?

You have to put the shifter in 2 so that you have room to remove the ashtray..Open the ashtray and pull/wiggle from the door on the ashtray..Once the ashtray loosens up pull from either corner that pops out first..the rest is self explanitory..

Default Polished Aluminum

Here's how it looks if you just peel the first layer of wood off and polish the aluminum. No, its not the best looking way, but if you're tight on funds, it'll suffice.
