I have had my first gen GS for a little over 4 years and I have to say it is the best and most reliable car I have ever owned..In the past couple of months I started to experiance that my car wasn't running as well as it did when I first bought it and it wasn't as smooth.. After a complete tune up and changing the TPS and the air flow meter, ignition coil, I still noticed that my car wasn't smooth and the acceleration suffered alot..Well last night all the issues have been fixed and my car is now smoother than it was when I first bought it.. I had my lexus mechanic replace the 2 engine mounts and the transmission mount and I cant even put into to words how well my car now idles and how smooth the acceleration is now..The motor mounts in our cars are liquid filled which is part of the reason they are so smooth and last night when my mechanic took out my mounts they where in 2 pieces and the liquid had leaked out, Both of THEM!!These mounts are supposed to be in one piece and when the tranny mount came out , it was crushed by almost and an 1" of what the new one is, meaning that the tranny was sitting about an inch lower than its supposed to be..Once they were bolted in the car idled perfectly to the point were you couldn't tell whether the car was running or not, I actaully had to look at my RPM gauge to check if it was on....My car now feels like a new car and i couldn't be more pleased..I asked my mechanic if this is a common problem, and his response was that motor mounts only last to about 80k once you hit that kind of mileage you should really consider changing them out..My car is a 93 and has 150,000 miles and feels like a new car..So to all of you that have over 100k on your car or even 80k you want to have your mounts changed if your car just doesn't feel smooth , it may just be your mounts..
My mechanic charged me $425 for all of them installed..this is a true night and day difference..Installing them isnt that hard but you have to lift the engine a little bit to remove/install the mounts..

I just bought 2 mounts today for my 1st gen gs. The no dealers in CT had them so they knocked off 20% and the price ended up being right around 200.00. This has been the most involved engine swap I have ever done.
