Default A couple upgrades to the car.

Purchased a red top battery because of the 2 year replacement warranty with no pro rating.

The red top sits a lil low compared to our stock battery so I had to clamp it down.

Bought the system from my partner in crime Lord of the Celsiors and had it installed today at the audio shop.

I just wanted a lil bump so the JL audio 10w6 and the Pioneer 200 watt amp is good enough for me. The amp is hooked up next to the trunk light behind the carpet.

Don't expect a trunk setup from me because I am a golfer and need the trunk space.

Nice

Gotta paint that clamp.

Had a similar problem when I put the new battery in ours...it sat 1" lower...wound up using a piece of Corian to raise the battery back up to the stock one.

Thank Mike!

Is it safe to put the corian underneath the battery? I bring this up because the stock base prevents the battery from falling off even though the top clamps it.

The battery tray is about 2" high for this generation LS so it is still contained even with the spacer beneath it.

I'm a fairly new GS owner and I may need to get a new battery soon. When changing the battery, will it reset the stock radio to where I need a code to unlock it? If so, how can this be done? Thanks

Cool

if no one has reset the code for the radio, I believe it's the first or last #'s of the VIN. if you don't know or have the radio code handy you can always use a set of jumper cables to connect the new battery to the car battery terminal in parallel(+ to + - to -) and then remove the old battery with it still being connected to the new one. I don't think it will be a problem though.

Haha, Nope, it's permanent... What would you reccomend instead? Lord of the Celsiors has had that setup for the past year.

Gotta talk to LOTC. His VIP car deserves better than the clamp.

You can go fancy like RMMGS4 or LXOGOOD. i don't know if they have these tops for the Optima Red though.

or

You can be more cost conservative and do things. First, raise the battery. Get either the Optima spacer, use the battery top that came with the battery (if you still have it), or even some wood. Then do what DaveGS4 did: use plexiglass. I think it looks better than the clamp.

Here is a pic of Dave's battery:

I may be doing this myself soon until I figure out something else to do.

I have plexiglass but I will have to cut it and then put it on top of the battery.

If I don't cut the plexiglass, do you think its safe if I put it underneath the battery?

Finally do they sell covers so I can cover the ugly looking Negative terminal connector?

thanks alot
