Default 93 GS300 new horsepower #s!

I threw my GS up on the portable dynojet at a car show we helped sponsor today. The numbers on just the motor were the exact same I hit the last time I tuned the car, 173rwhp and 165rwtq. The spray #s jumped up a good bit though.. making 265rwhp and 280rwtq now!

Now.. what is a guesstimate on the friction loss thru a 226k mile stock 93 GS300 auto tranny? I'm guessing conservatively 20% . Creeping up on the 350rwhp mark!

To recap for those that are new here.. GTE bottom end, GE head and intake manifold, HKS cam gears, HKS intake, 85mm single exhaust to HKS carbon -ti muffler. (no cat/precat/resonator), and SAFC2.

My partner just bought a 92 5 speed SC300 yesterday, so as soon as we locate a 1jz Soarer 5 spd frt clip, his tranny is gong into my GS, along with the ebrake and pedals from the Soarer clip. Oh and my GTE head and a custom manifold for (2) K26 turbines. 450rwhp here I come!

soon as you upgrade that tranny I would see some timeslips off the juice and on the juice, see what a dif that tranny makes. U still got the stock 4A in there i suppose?

I'm guessing about a 100hp shot based on the #s. See I'm running a ZEX system, but the jets only go up to 75hp, so I uh.. drilled it with a dremel bit.

I also have an Aeromotive FPR to kick up the fuel pressure at the rail and on my SAFC2 I have the second datafile tuned for spray..nice flat 12:1 afr.

Stock 93 tranny.. just been flushed and refilled with new juice. 226k miles.

On the track last time (249rwhp and 278rwtq) it ran a 13.9@105mph spinning halfway down the track (spraying) On the motor it ran a 16.3@86mph.

5 speed swap is coming soon. Anyone have a good lead on a Soarer 1jz 5 speed clip?

I've heard you can get more hp if you convert to electric radiator fans and an electric waterpump.
true?

Anything that you can do to remove drag off the engine will give back horsepower. I have dual electric fans and removing the fan clutch off the water pump was one of my first mods. I did the fans mod not only for horsepower, but to keep a constant flow of air thru the radiator during drift sessions where there is not a lot of airflow due to the relatively low speeds.

For someone just starting to mod their first gen, what would you say is the first thing to do/change/remove to increase speed off the line? Intake/exhaust?

Some older posts mention installing a torque converter...they are usually referring to a 430 though. Would there be a noticable difference in a GS300? Nice description of how they work below for beginers like me....

Take a look at the 1st gen stock exhaust system and you tell me if you think it would be a good first mod to get rid of it.
