Default Exhaust questions

hey guys
i was looking at my old stock exhaust on my car and i noticed. we have 4 mufflers on the car.
when you guys installed your aftermarket exhaust did you go with universal mufflers and piping and tips or did you guys go for the full lexus made exhausts? also, did you guys replace all 4 or just have two ?
thanks
lawrence

Cool

I did the greddy catback(2 mufflers). Although I miss the 4 mufflers, it's so much quieter the lexus way.

There are 2 mufflers, and 2 resonators..joined by what looks to be about 2" piping or less. I threw my stock exhaust out a long time ago. Either way, getting rid of it all is the best way to make power
in the 1st gen to start with.

Cool

2 muffler 2 resonators = 4 , you guys get my point.. 4 restrictions in the exhaust path call them whatever you want.

Single 2.5" is going to suck.. especially crush bent. Think of it this way.. even as restrictive as the stock exhaust is.. it is still 2" duals.. that is a cross-section width of 4". So you are loosing exhaust flow pushing that engine thru a crush bent 2.5" which is actually flowing more like a mandrel 2.25"

Do dual 2.5"s and some straight thru resonated mufflers and you'll have a good start.

resonator does nothing to restirct the flow
just baffling to deaden the sound, stock ones, restrict it in such a minimal way that it's not a big diff
