93 GS auto to manual conversion..HELP
alright all you lexus guru's out there. my latest project is building a 93 gs300. im looking into swapping a 2jzgte in there, or turboing the stocker.. thats all fairly straight forward and pretty well documented.
my question lays within the tranny... can i swap th is car over to manual? i figure it will end up getting a new ecu anyhow, or worst case i can emulate the auto tranny with a little electronic wizardry.
but what about fit? can i get the trans in there? can i use a sc300 clutch pedal assembly? are the gs and sc firewalls the same, or similar enough to allow robbing from peter {sc300} to pay paul {gs300}
please advise, ive searched high and low and cant find anyone thats done it.. which fuels my fire that much more.

yeah having a clip is never a bad idea. it came in handy as **** for the first s13 into s14 swap i ever did. probably would have never got it done if i hadnt started with 2 "whole" cars. not that its hard... but i HATE nissan and didnt know **** back then, not that i know **** now.
what clip are you using? i thought all aristo were auto.. which further scares me in the sc to gs compatability.
by "using a clip" do you mean he just had one laying around, or he actually had to cut out the firewalls and graft the aristo pedal section into the gs's?

Far as I know...The aristo front clip only came in Automatic. I've contemplated having a manual conversion but more i learned, more a headache it started to become. Though it would be interesting to see exactly how it would work.

You would have to use a supra tranny and they are sooooooooooo expensive. There is one other tranny that will work from a soarer however it's not much better than the auto in your GS right now. The supra auto is slightly better and the auto tranny can be built to handle more power. However if all you're doing is puttng in a stock 2jzgte stick with the stock tranny.

My aristo has been converted to a 6 speed manual. It uses a getrag box out of a mk4 supra. As far as I know it just bolts straight into the car as it stands. What work you need in regards to driveshafts and differentials I'll know when I finally take delivery of the car.
Needs some work in the gaitor dept around the handbrake section but you can see it fits in there.
Someone UK side is selling the whole kit for a supra conversion
Everything you need for a manual conversion - all the following for just £2000!
Clutch HKS Triple Plate / Cylinders / Pedal boxes etc £750.00
Gearbox and short shifter – this has been built to a high specand we are checking to see how uprated) £750.00
LSD = whole unit inc uprated diff and manual prop shaft £750.00
Prop shaft / centre bearing (manual) £250.00
Thats not a bad price

I myself have seen a 2jz gte aristo motor with a r154 tranny... for those not knowing what that is ... that is a 1jz 5spd... best part with about the car is u can use an auto ECU with a a 5spd tranny... if want cheap and liable and will handle 600hp... get the r154 tranny unless you go 6spd getrag tranny which is like 2000bucks jsut for an extra gear!

There are boxes about in japan for not much dinaro fellas if you can be assed to import one. How much you gonna pay for a 5 speed box? You'll still need pedal box, clutchmaster cylinder and pipework, clutch, Limited slip diff, drive shafts etc. An ecu Out of a mk4 supra will only add about £100 which is approx $175. You can get mines reprogrammed ECU's for about £200.
That kit I listed before includes everything apart from the ECU which the guy probably has as well and its not a stock getrag box its a rebuilt one and the clutch is an uprated one as well.
