Code 71 fix*how to*?/?
Anyone know how to fix code 71 EgR valve??? Do i just go to the dealer and buy the round thing(egr valve i'm assuming?) with all the tubes plugged into it. and swap out the old one and just make sure all the tubes are plugged into the same hole as the original?

I removed it off the car and used a air compressor to blow air into all the inlet/outlets and put it back in. it didn't fix the problem and took me like 2 minutes to do. Did i miss a step?? how is it a PITA?

maybe i'm mistaking the EGR valve for something else. The thing i removed was next to the break fluid reserve. it was round and had maybe 3-4 small tubes connected to it. and one at the bottom which was a bit bigger tube.

ok, maybe i have the name wrong. I "think" this is called the EGR valve regulator. This is the round unit i took off the car and blew with compressed air.
This doesn't sound like what you were talking about.
Thanks for your help so far man.

Gotcha, i'll have to pop the hood tomo and take a look again for the actual EGR that needs cleaning. Any instructions on how to do this. or anyone have a copy of the manual that can scan it for me on how to take this part out and clean it. Thanks.

My car thew code 71 in August after my brother cleaned the EGR valve very thouroughly. I took the car to Ted at Dynamic Auto Services and told him that the CEL was on and the code was 71. Ted is an experienced Lexus Master Tech and he said it was most likely the vacuum modulator. He tested it and that was the problem in my case. It is probably also the case for you.
