Default Why GS300

i have $8000 budget to spend and i am trying to decide should i get a 98 Q45 or a 93 GS300. After research, i found GS300 is very slow (0-60 in 9.2 second) and consume lot of fuel , 18mpg.

I like GS300 over Q45 just because i think the size of GS300 just perfect and Q45 is way too long. But performance wise GS300 is like a grandpa. I just wondering what made you guys decide to pick up a GS300?

thanks

I have a GS300 and I might not know THAT much about cars, but I do know that the GS300 is 0-60 in a lot less than 9.2. Also 18mpg so what? I can get 448 miles on one tank highway miles. Also city driving, I can last a little over a week on a tank of gas. 18mpg doesn't mean anything wherever you read it. Plus as far as looks go, the 98 Q45 looks like a grandpa car, the GS300 is all curvey and "sexy" as this girl I know said. Plus you can easily mod a GS while it's a big pain to do anything with an old man looking Q45. Oh and not to mention the interior of the GS is a lot nicer. you get the power tilt/telescope steering wheel, nice bright a$$ spedometer and really nice sound system with a modern looking radio and A/C. I vote GS all the way, plus it'll last you way past 200k miles, the Q45 more than likely won't. So there you have it, my argument.

Its slow, but with the heart of a Supra, it can be made fast. I love my car, and as of right now, I wouldnt trade it for any other car. There is nothing on the rode I like, other than a MKIV Supra, but I mean, try finding one of those thats in good condition for sale. My car handles awesome for stock suspension, its fast enough on the top end for me to play with my friends in their 350Z's and S2000's. I fall behind, but I can still play. As for the gas, you are right, it drinks heavily, I think I may need to call AA. I really need to take my car in for a tune-up and timing belt though, its about that time. Anyway Im just rabling on because its late and Im a lil tipsy. You have a goodnight...and as for turbogs...look out for an email coming your way

this car is great...its got room for people..and can still perform with 4 even 5 people in the car...as far as the 18 mpg ...... http://www.wsoctv.com/automotive/4422729/detail.html......""The EPA fuel efficiency standards are very outdated. They're basically using tests that were developed back in the 1970s," said AAA's Rose White." ...ill get back to u on 0-60...

Yeah...the GS300 in stock form is dog slow...but drop in a couple G's and you got a 300+RWHP car....not sure what you would get out of the Infinity. The infitity is also very boxy and in my opinion very ugly.

My GS300 has 237,000 miles on it...and dyno'ed at around 400rwhp...it would have lasted longer, but I blew off the bottom of my radiator and super overheated my motor, slightly warping the head at No 5 cylinder.

I also got 25 mpg on the highway.

I say GS300 all the way... you will not regret it.

Default why not?

I just recieved a 93 GS300 with 220,000 miles and it needs some work but I have the utmost confidence in the car. It's easy to work on and there's plenty of underhood room for mods. I also ride a sportbike and the car is not slow. Remember that it is first and foremost a luxury sedan with the heart of a Supra. It does a decent job all around right out of the box, I'm sure the Infinity does too. You just have to make the choice yourself and drive each one if you have the opportunity. If you decide to get the infinity then "see ya later!"

Good luck man take care.

in no particular order...

1) timeless design - although few people would mistake our cars for brand new, it has aged very well similar to the SC300/400's and the 2nd Gen Legends

2) luxury - smooth, solid, and quiet - a great highway cruiser

3) reliability - do a search through the forum and you'll rarely find anyone with any major problems

4) uniqueness - its rare to see another 1st gen on the road. it's nice not having a car everyone else has

I second that. I have always liked driving cars that you don't see many of. I made the mistake of buying a 4runner a few years back, and I hated driving it because of how many others I saw on the road...so I had to modify it so it really was no longer a 4runner. I think the area that I live in has around 600,000 people or so...could be more. I see a 1st gen GS300 about once every 3 weeks, and it is usually the same car. In the past year, I have seen maybe 4 different 1st gen GS300's in my area. I see more ferarri's than that.

Default In defense of the Q45

I don't think there is nothing Grandpa about it. Yes the GS is more sportier but it's all on your wants and needs. I think the Q45 is more suited for VIP styling like the one pictured and the GS is more of a sport sedan.
