Default 1993 gs300 transmission question

I have a lil problem with my transmission, first off.. the shifter is very loose, i have to push on it sometimes in park to start the car, when its in drive the shifter also is loose, then the other thing the car pops out of gear when you accalerate in everse just when backing out of the drive way, then when you slow down pops back in. So is there an adjustment you can make? like a linkage or something? i want to sell the car soon so want to fix the problems on it. This has happened ever since i installed the new Engine. This tranny came with the new engine. But ever since the shop installed it its been like this, i just never took the time to fix it. Thanks for any info guys.

yes, there is a linkage. lift the car and look at the shifter where it comes thru the tranny tunnel. you will see the bolt and nut on the linkage.. the hole is slotted so you can slide it back and forth.

loosen the nut and slide the linkage forward until it is all the way in park and tighten the nut again.
then check thru all the gears to make sure is is now aligned properly.
