Quick ? about engine check light
#2
Idk bout your car bro but that doesnt sound right. The only RED light thing that comes even close to being a concern in my car is the oil light. It goes off 1 second after i start my car...and its got plenty of oil so its not a concern.
I've noticed that these lexus engeneers are SMART!! Everything on the dashboard is color cordinated. Anything light that could light up red is a potential threat/look in to this issue type of thing. (Oil level, oil pressure, R letter i believe, not sure) Orange is minor but you should still look into it (Wind washer fluid low, O/D off, i don remember anythin else) and green is an option on your car and is harmless for the most part! (Cruise control, D letter, headlights i think)
Good luck bro...Welcome to CL

Check Engine is not for low oil level. There is a low oil level light (also orange/yellow). I have seen mine when the car was within a few miles of being due for an oil change and I was on a steep uphill. The check engine light indicates a problem if it stays on after you start the car. Probably the most common problems are EGR valve, oxygen sensors, and the vacuum modulator. You can pull the error code and the way to do that is available in this forum. Just search for it.
