Default Center console wood trim

Hello all.....i know this topic has been discussed before and did a search but didn't find the answer i was looking for. Well finally my center console wood trim broke and looking to replace it. Here's my question for those who have done it....do you guys replace the broken wood trim or just place the new one over the old broken one and if so how do you take the old one off? Do i break the rest of it off or does it just snap off? Thanks in advance guys!

There's one on Ebay right now, there's also a COVER on Ebay that's supposed to fit on top of it for about $100......

Cool

^^^^^^^^^That's too much, they're only about $60 including shipping for just the center shifter cover.
I removed all the old woodgrain and applied the new one over the metal.

I've seen the ones on ebay and yes they are too much. I have seen the one for $60 and most likely going to purchase that one. Turbo, did you have to strip it off or is there an easier way to take it apart? When taking the old one off, should i clean the surface with something special? Thanks!

Cool

I kid of just picked at and used a flat head screwdriver to chip it all off, not sure if it's really needed. The new piece comes with an alcohol pad for cleaning.
Make sure you get it right before removing the backing because it sticks like a ****
