Hi there,
I'm new to this site and am seriously considering a 97 GS300 Sport with 93,000 miles. I've never had luck with gearboxes. How good is the Auto in the Lexus? How reliable is it in general? I think it's 3 speed with OD. Ever hear of anyone with problems?

The 93-97 has a 4spd auto with O/D...Ive counted lol. The GS300 is a great car, 93,000 miles is nothing on the 2JZ as long as its been regularly maintained...oil, etc. etc. Seeing as how it has 93,000 on it you need to make sure it has had the 90,000 mile service (timing belt and other stuff of that nature). Your gonna have problems with any car, I personally have never heard of problems with the tranny in our cars, and I drive mine really hard, everyday. I use synthetic tranny fluid though, and Im about to add a tranny cooler. Just check the cars maintainence records. Good luck on your decision.

I have had bad luck with auto boxes as well. To my suprize I have not had any problems with my 94 GS3. It has 164k and still drives like new.
