Default Clutch fan replacement...

I replaced my clutch fan with a Torqueflow electric fan. I originally hooked it up directly to the RDI Fan fuse with a fuse tap. Then I decided to relocate the power source to the electric fan/s so it would kick on when the engine reached a certain temp (thus making it quieter on startup and better warm up times). After all is said and done, I tested it by letting the car run (whilst watching the temp guage) until the fan kicked on with the other fans. Well, it did, and did it well. I made sure it kicked on and kicked off when the other fans did so, and the temp guage stayed in the same place as if nothing had been changed. When I turn the a/c on all of the fans come on too which I think is normal. I drove the car to work today and no problems, then drove to my buds house with no problem. We then took a long drive around the outskirts of town so I could see how the fans worked out under highway and spirited driving. Did great until I got down the street from my house then the temp guage started climbing. When I parked the car the temp was hitting in upper 75 percentile of the safe zone (still not in the red). But none of the fans where running. I checked the main RDI fuse under the hood and it looks good but there is also a relay which I cannont test with my equipment. Anyone have this problem?

Damn it's HOT HERE!!!!

These are the locations I tapped into, find the blue and red wire taps on the right of the battery and the left of the battery in front of the auxiliary fan.

Ah, the new intake. It sounds really nice when you get on it, it makes a slightly noticable difference in performance as well. Definately in the throttle response area. Of course that might also be because I took the 20 lb clutchfan off the belt drive.

I have the springs and the brakes (powerstop disks and "greenstuff" pads) but I'm waiting on the shocks to arrive or I would be outside right now. Speakin-O-wich I need ot go find out what's up with my fans.

Fixed it. Everything is back to normal, I think when I used the spade fuse tap on the rdi fan fuse port I might have spread the fixture, so I put the tap back in (althought it is not being used) and with another trip around the city everything is fine.

Now I can change this post to "HEY, look what I got done this weekend!!!"

Can't wait till those damn shocks come in, then the suspension and brakes are go!

I am eyeballling the the Injen universal muffler in 3". I am going to get everything ready for the turbo at the end of the year. I am going to start as far up as I can with a 3" magnaflow then a 3" resonator (magnaflow also) and single 3" piping all the way back to the Injen canister on the drivers side of the back. I'll have to do some bondo work to erase the right side exhaust cutout but that's no big deal.

Anyone with here n/a with 3" plumbing?

Here is a before pic.

And here is after the install (Injen intake, and Clutchflow electric cooling fan)

And here's a better shot of the fan since you really can't even see it anymore

Performance is excellent and I have a new love for this motor now that I can hear it. Of course it is all coming from under the hood (with the exception of removing the pre-mufflers, so it has a little sound in the back but not as much as I want) I'm going to drive to the river today and see if the milage improves (assuming I can keep my foot off the go pedal!!! )

Mines kinda like 3" lol. Try 3" from headers to 3" to 2.5" daul y-pipe then 2.5" daul the rest to 2 Apexi N1's. Sounds awesome and feels awesome. I dont really feel a difference down low, but I def. feel something up high. I have a video of me starting the car..uhh... http://media.putfile.com/Exhaust4934 yum

Just to clarify something, when I walk up and grab the camera, where Im standing about 4-5 feet from the car, I can feel the vibration from the exhaust....and it feels good

PS. I almost dropped my camera when I picked it up, thats why I kinda like bobble it around for a second, sorry if someone gets sick.

Nice. Sounds pretty good from the interpretation my laptop speakers give at the moment. I think this week I'll get the suspension and brakes finished, I'm hoping that It is not too low to drive up the lift at the exhaust shop. That will be done in the next couple of weeks. I'll keep the pictures coming as progress unfolds. Anyone do any effective weight reduction (without screwing with the interior)?

Happy Easter

Oh, yeah. Mileage is around 25 (I got on it a few times to pass some cars) but the trip to the river was awesome. Temp stayed right at the norm. I'm happy

Thanks bro. You really gotta hear it in person to enjoy it. I will make more vids sometime this week or something, putting the camera farther away. 25mpg sounds about right. I usually get about 24-25 when I got to Louisiana, thats with my cruise control at 85 lol. The fan will help, but you really need to do is open up that exhaust man. Before I got mine done, I was getting 15-16 with my foot in it all the time, now...with my foot still in it, im getting about 21 mixed. I need to get an intake, or at least clean my K&N filter.
I think Im gonna do my own custom intake just to last till I get the turbo in. Kinda like what Gompka did, PVC pipe, except mine will be a short ram . I'll get a 3" HKS filter so I can use it with the turbo hehe.
Keep doin what you doin though, your cars lookin good man. I need to get some pics while mines clean.
BTW, what springs are going with?

I got my hands on a set of Intrax springs for a couple of bills. Damn shocks should be here tomorrow or I would be outside right now with my buddy who is installing his ported and polished NextGen upper and lower intake (that shyte is selling for 12,000!! )

Unfortunately my rear brake disks never came, and I got a call saying they are out of stock on the powerslot rear rotors and it will be a few weeks at least if they even come in. So I'm just going to turn the rear rotors for now. If they have discontinued the slotted rear rotors then I will just crossdrill my stock ones ( I work at a machine shop and would even dream of trying this at home with a drill of any kind, they would go into a cnc mill if I do this at all)

I am probably going to suck it up and not even put the car down on the new suspension and brakes until I powdercoat the wheels black, should only take a couple of days (including cleaning) so maybe by this weekend. I will definately take some midprogess pics though.
