I agree that even on an older car the Lexus brand is still a status symbol. That's why you see people here on the 1st gen forum like myself that are willing to spend the $$$ to keep a 15+ car in good working condition. It's pretty reliable, looks good, and somehow still stands out even today.
Yeah a hyundai better be reliable because if it wasn't who would spend the money on repairs? It just wouldn't make sense.
The tiburon is the only hyundai I would even consider because the styling is pretty good. If I was going to buy a sports car I would probably choose something else, though. Would my wife's 9-2x Aero be able to beat a Tiburon? 223HP AWD 5-speed? Of couse it can be modded pretty easily, too.
I'd rather drive my Lexus GS than a new version of whatever Hyundai's luxury sedan model is. Except for the window trim dammit Lexus what the hell on that? I've got 72k miles on my car and I don't need "non-wear" items coming apart. Somebody in Japan spec'd the wrong adhesive; I think he should be forced to drive a Sonata for life.
