Default Headunit Problems any help????

hello there kinda new to this but yea i got a lexus gs300 and one day i was driving then all of a sudden my speakers stop playn music but the factory head unit turns on and everyting but theres no music playn? would any1 know what is the problem with it? thankx if ou guys could help out

maybe a blown speaker?

could also be a blown amp, I think those speakers are hooked up to it.

Hes right, sounds like the amp is gone. You should check it out for water, its a pretty common problem with the 1st gen.

Thankx for the tips imma have it checc out... would any of you know how to take out the head unit or know were the amp is located? and wat should i do if its blown?

Remove ashtray, take out 2 bolts there, remove air vent, take out the 2 bolts there. Pull radio out. If you need anymore help, search for stereo install and my write-up should pop up. The stock amp is gonna be on the passenger side in the trunk underneath the carpet right behind the rear wheel...


PS, there may be 3 bolts behind the ashtray.

thanks..also if my amp is blown how can i tell? would i need to change a fuse or the whole amp?if my whole amp is blown is there anyway i could use the radeo without the amp?

No exactly sure how you would be able to tell, but if your headunits working and theres no sounds, then its most likely the amp. If you want PM me and we can make some sort of deal for my amp that Im not longer using. If you just wanna upgrade then just get a new Headunit and follow write-up and install it yourself.
