Default Can't get the bottom guard off

I wanted to do a coolant flush today but i couldn't get the guard off!!

All screws came out easy but the bolt/nut were a PITA and couldn't get em off. (The are located parallel to the front of the wheel well) They are extremely rusty (WD40ed it) but not luck.

I can't seem to even get to the one on the left side because there is hardly/no opening for the wrench to get in.

The one on the left has a little opening for the wrench to hold while i try to turn the nut but its so rusted together i can't even get it to budge. Any suggestions??

How do i get to the bolt on the left side and how do i get these rusted things off!!! ITS DRIVIN ME INSANE!!!!!!!

A 3/4 inch wide cold chisel and a hammer.

I'm not sure how to break it. I managed to break one of the bolts while taking them all off by accident.

But these 2 are that i want off won't budge. How can i break it with a chisel if it doesn't have a solid base? What i mean by that is that it will move if i wack it with a chisel!!

I figure i can get away with just taking of the right bolt off and bend the guard.. I think for the left one there is no opening like there is on the right side. IO might just take the outer guard off too so i can get these bols from the topt!!

Wish me luck

just to make sure you are taking off the correct guards. its the one in this picture hanging out the bottom of the car. its the only picture i found in the gallery that shows the guard.

So your suggesting there is only plastic between the bolt head and the nut. No metal edge to lean into to remove the slack in the hole.

The it might just come down to the good ol' Vice Grips. A pair to the nut and a second pair to the bolt head will wring the little 1/8 bolt off..

Since you live in snow country, might I recommend purchasing replacement bolt, flat washer and nut made from stainless steel at your local hardware store. .

That hurts

Yes, that is the guard i'm trying to take off.

Tammy, that is correct. The bolt head is so thin its really hard to even gripem with vice grips let alone a wrench BUT thats only on the right side of the car. The left is a different story, i'm almost sure i will have to take of the outer guard to get to the top of the bolt.

I'm bout to say screw it and find someone with an angle grinder and shred these bolts off and replace em with new stainless steel.
