Default motor swap

I was wondering if anybody know of anyone doing a V8 swap into the 1 gen gs?? One of my friends and i are debating on a 1jzgte single turbo - Toyota Chaser - (so i don't have to worry about the rear turbo hitting the firewall) or a 1uz-fe (thats if it fits)?? It be unquie to drop a V8 motor into the 1 gen gs and will it bolt up to the tranny, i know the 1jzgte does - i think so anyways. Plus the V8 motor is cheaper for a college student.

I think you will save more time and money with swapping an Aristo engine or just go with a simple NA-T setup.

money is not a big deal, but i'm still wondering if the V8 motor will fit in the engine bay and will it bolt up to the tranny?

I expect it would have to be a completely custom affair. I wouldn't mind doing it myself, but don't really have the facility or funding. However, maybe down the road I'll look at it. I think it's theoretically possible, but I'd be very interested to see that someone had done it. I know there is a guy in Dallas that did a 1uzfe swap into a IS300 wagon...looked pretty clean. I have also seen the same engine put into a MK2 supra (85 I believe) and it looks insane under the hood....dynoed at 230 - 240 whp or something. Sounded damned nice.

V8 will not make power like 2jz's...... and will outstand that V8.. not worth the time IMO

no dout, nothing could make the power like a 2jz, but i'm not really looking for crazy *** power, it's just something different to have. I want a totally package, looks, some power, audio, and class. Have anybody seen or heard of anybody droping a chaser motor(1jz- single turbo) into a first gen gs?

Yes it's been done but it would be a wiring nightmare.

Why would the wiring be a nightmare?

None of the wiring harness would match.

I was looking at doing a tundra motor with TRD charger. But in the end I still wouldnt be happy with the horsepower.
BTW the 1st gen was avail in japan with a V8. Chassis name was JZX-147

i thought so too, being that i've seen some japanese pages listing a 1st gen with a V8 and also an all-wheel drive 1st gen. This was rare and I think both where produced in VERY limited numbers (kind of like the 90-91 corolla AWD 4AGZE wagon). One thing to mention about your post, though, you might be wrong about the chassis code because the chassis code would change to UZS147 (as i have seen it listed) the first 2 letters being the engine type. The X either was a typo or someone is just making things up. I believe it is possible. But IMHO I would rather do a JDM JZX100 engine/manual conversion swap by getting a front clip. the engine sits perfect in the engine compartment and a manual swap would really rise many eyebrows in approval if this were to be a show car. Also a manual is better for drifting heee heee ya'll know what I mean )=]

No your right, it is a UZS-147. I should have put the crack pipe down and looked at the hyper rev where I saw it.
